Should Grad Students Work Employment During Graduate School
There is no one answer to this question. Why? There are many ways to attend graduate school - and many graduate programs with differing cultures and rules. Take the graduate program that we attended: Working was frowned upon and sometimes forbidden. It was a full-time doctoral program and students were expected to treat their graduate studies as a full-time job. Students who held outside jobs were few and far between -- and they rarely spoke of them, at least not to faculty. Students who were funded by faculty grants or institutional funds were not permitted to work outside of the institution. However, not all graduate programs look at student employment in the same way. Full-Time Graduate Programs Students who attend full-time graduate programs, especially doctoral programs, generally are expected to treat their studies as a full-time job. Some programs expressly forbid students from working while others simply frown on it. Some students find that working an outside job is not a choice - they cannot make ends meet without the cash. Such students should keep their employment activities to themselves as much as possible as well as choose jobs that will not interfere with their studies. Part-Time Graduate Programs These programs are not designed to take up all of the students time - although students often find that part-time graduate study takes a lot more time than they anticipated. Most students enrolled in part-time graduate programs work, at least part-time, and many work full time. Recognize that programs labeled part-time still require a great deal of work. Most schools tell students to expect to work about 2 hours out-of-class for every hour in class. That means every 3-hour class will require at least 6 hours of preparation time. Courses vary - some might require less time, but those with heavy reading assignments, homework problem sets, or lengthy papers may require more time. Working often isnââ¬â¢t an option, so at least begin each semester with open eyes and realistic expectations. Evening Graduate Programs Most evening graduate programs are part-time programs and all the comments above apply. Graduate students who enroll in evening programs usually work full time.ââ¬â¹Ã Business schools often have evening MBA programs designed for adults who are already employed and want to advance their careers. Evening programs schedule classes at times that are convenient for students who work, but they arent any easier or lighter in load than other graduate programs. Online Graduate Programs Online graduate programs are deceptive in the sense that there rarely is any set class time. Instead, students work on their own, submitting their assignments every week or so. The lack of meeting times can trick students into feeling as if they have all the time in the world. They dont. Instead, students who enroll in an online graduate study have to be diligent about their use of time - perhaps more so than students in brick-and-mortar programs because they can attend graduate school without ever leaving their home. Online students face similar reading, homework, and paper assignments as other students, but they also must set aside time to participate in class online, which may require that they read dozens or even hundreds of student posts as well as compose and post their own responses. Whether you work as a graduate student depends on your finances, but also on the type of graduate program you attend. Recognize that if you are awarded funding, such as scholarships or assistantships, you might be expected to refrain from outside employment.

Statistical population included employees of Customs headquarters in 2011. Volume of the statistical population was equal to 678 persons among which 386 persons were male and 292 persons were female. Sample volume was determined equal to 250 persons using Creakier and Morgan table and relative class sampling method was used. Therefore, portion of each class (male and female employees) was first calculated in the statistical population and the same ratio was observed in the sample too. Statistical sample of employees contains 142 males and 108 females by gender separation. Two researcher self-made questionnaires were used for leadership development and performance to collect the required data. Although these questionnaires were standard and normalized, views of advisor and guiding professors were reviewed to determine validity of the questionnaires. Cockroach alpha coefficients of leadership development and employeesââ¬â¢ performance questionnaires ware equal to 0. 89 and 0. 86 respectively which illustrated high reliability of both questionnaires. Results were analyzed through SPAS software. Analyzing results As variables under study follow normal distribution Pierson correlation coefficient is used in this survey to study the relationship among variables. Secondary hypotheses Hypothesis 1: HO: there is no positive relationship between coaching and employeesââ¬â¢ performance. These variables are important in predicting employees' performance and totally they have allocated 43% of variance of employees' performance score to themselves. Positive coefficients of calculated beta (P) for authorization (P = 0. 45), education and development (P = 0. 20) and empowerment (P = 0. 14) reveal that employeesââ¬â¢ performance score is increased by increasing scores of these variables. Therefore it is inferred that authorization, education and development and empowerment have the highest impact on Conclusion Obtained results of analyzing statistical data demonstrate that there is a positive and significant relationship among leadership development and its dimensions. Authorization and education and development among leadership development dimensions are strong correlates of employeesââ¬â¢ performance. On the other hand, obtained results of regression analysis show variables of authorization, education and development and empowerment are remained in analysis among predictor variables (leadership development dimensions) based on the highest significance bevel and coaching and participation in decision-making are not inserted in analysis. Authorization, education and development and empowerment variables explain employeesââ¬â¢ performance score significantly. These variables are important in predicting employeesââ¬â¢ performance. Therefore, it is concluded that authorization, employeesââ¬â¢ performance respectively. Recommendations It is recommended to managers as instructors to create and accelerate learning to improve employeesââ¬â¢ performance; train and develop employees through methods such as Job cycle, assistance and etc; try to empower employees; provide the ground or employeesââ¬â¢ participation in decision-makings by making individuals familiar with affairs and their manner and it is necessary to prioritize authorization methods in their management. Also it is recommended to conduct this survey topic in other institutions and organizations and study the relationship among leadership development and productivity and efficiency. Respect to the aftermath of cyclone Tracy in 1974, this aboriginal Medical Services was developed as an in house service for the aboriginals that were evacuated to the southern cities for the cyclone. First establishment of the Danilla dilba clinic was in 1991, and the service was named by the local larrakia traditional custodians: the name represents aboriginal people getting better from sickness. In 1991, during the first establishment of the clinic, it had 7 staff members and one building. However, this iconic indigenous health service has grown into 5 clinics including different clinics for men and women, mobile and dental clinics, and different community programs in 2016 to 17 (Ddhs.org.au., 2018). Vision and Objectives of Danila Dilba Indigenous health service: Danila Dilba health services was developed as an aboriginal community controlled organization that provide culturally appropriate comprehensive primary health care along with community services to the biluru people that are aboriginal and Torres strait islander living in the Yilli Rreung (Darwin) region of the Northern territory. The vision of this organization is to create a society where the health, well-being, and the living quality of an aboriginal or Torres strait islander is equal to that of any other non indigenous Australians belonging to the mainstream society (Maple-Brown et al., 2013). The mission of this organization is to improve the overall health of the biluru community including the combination of physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, and social well being by the means of comprehensive primary health care programs, different community servicesand advocating their health care needs based on the values of equality, access, empowerment, and collaboration (Ddhs.org.au., 2018). There are various services that are provided by the DDHS health initiative, such as, medical clinic, dental clinic, social and emotional wellbeing centre, alcohol and other drug program, child and maternal health service, service for chronic diseases, health checkups, community outreach program, and even health education programs. On a more elaborative note this healthcare service emphasizes on acute care, immunization, chronic disease management womens health issues, Men's health issues, child and neonatal health issues, and social, emotional, and psychological health issues and even alcohol tobacco and other drug release programs. It has to be mentioned in this context that each dollar invested in this health service provides $4.18 benefits back to the society. According to Aodknowledgecentre.net.au., 2018, DDHS is currently able to provide improved health outcomes to the 80% of the greater Darwin region and Torres strait islander population. Currently the Danila Dilba health servi ces have also included ANFPP parenting support programs, which is a sustained home visiting program that supports the pregnant women through the process of pregnancy and the challenges that they face. Another new addition to their services is the Deadly choices program which provides encouraging counselling and educational services that helps the aboriginal and Torres Strait islander community to develop healthier lifestyle choices and gain the benefits from the health promotional behaviour adapted by the rest of mainstream society. Psychological support to the youth of the native communities has become one of the greatest healthcare needs for any developing nation (Frendin Saunders, 2013). The Don Dale youth support program of DDHS provide therapeutic counselling and support program including both group based settings and one on one support settings for the youth of aboriginal and Indigenous communities of Australia. Gumileybirra clinic is a very well known component of the servic es provided by the DDHS and this focuses on the health needs of the women and children residing in the aboriginal and Torres Strait islander communities. This specialized health service for the women and children incorporate the services from midwives and doctors to look after the women and children of the communities in a culturally safe and respectful manner ensuring that each and every patient feels comfortable in a culturally appropriate manner (Ddhs.org.au., 2018). The improvement in the health status and life expectancy of the indigenous communities facilitated by the initiatives taken by this not for profit organisation has moved me to track the growth this organisation has achieved. I would like to mention that closing the gap initiatives taken by the Australian government to access each and every inequality issue faced by indigenous on native communities, the initiatives by DDHS attests to the continuing gap in health outcomes between native and non native Australians. It has been mentioned that diabetes and cardiovascular diseases alone accounts for close to 30% of the disease burden in the indigenous populations of Australia, which DDHS has targeted and improved commendably (Haynes, Bird, Carson, Larkin Mason, 2011) . Along with that, the acute care and health educational initiatives have helped improve the statistics of communicable disease incidence rates and prevalence in the aboriginal communities as well. Based on the data I have collected for this report I have discovered that the organization have chosen as achieved a commendable impact on targeting the key health issues of aboriginal communities focusing on their core values principles and goals. The key challenges faced by the organization include the lack of manpower to complete the services that the organization needs to overcome the intensity of services they run. The lack of culturally competent staffs is another key challenge that these communities face in this organization. The lack of funding is another grave issue faced by this organization and it stops the organization from making the most of impact it envisioned in the organization (Jamieson, Sayers Roberts-Thomson, 210). Conclusion: The implementation of the different Indigenous Health programs has helped to improve the health outcomes and life expectancy of the indigenous populations considerably. Hence it has to be acknowledged that the impact of the Indigenous Health programs on the health and wellbeing of the aboriginal individuals in Australia has been profound. Research Methods Into Positivism And Social Constructivism There has been heated discussion over the use of positivism and social constructivism in management research over the past few decades. And one can find that most of the theorists take a neutral view with regard to this situation. After the 1980s there has been a trend towards social constructivism but even then no one is sticking completely to the principles of one single philosophy. The main idea behind positivism is that society is an external agent and hence its properties or characteristics must be measured objectively rather than by any subjective means like intuition, sensation etc. This view was first proposed by French theorist Auguste Comte (1853) according to whom All good intellects have repeated, since Bacons time, that there can be no real knowledge but that which is based on observable facts. Hence his view has two main assumptions i.e. reality is external and objective and knowledge is based upon observations of this reality. Thus there are certain postulates of this philosophy: Independence: The researcher must be independent in his thoughts and is not influenced by any factors while observing the reality. Value-freedom: This involves deciding upon the area to be studied and how to study it. Positivism suggests doing this on the basis of objective research and not on human beliefs. Causality: The main objective of social and behavioral sciences is to evaluate the causes and fundamental laws behind the fluctuations in the behavioral pattern of people. Hypothesis and deduction: every research will be based on certain hypothesis and the observations will be made to either prove or disprove this hypothesis statement. Operationalization: The research concepts must be formulated in such a way that the facts obtained from observations can be measured empirically. Reductionism: This concept believes that a bigger problem will be easy to solve if it is divided into smaller elements which can be separately solved. Generalization: In order to make general conclusions on fluctuations in human behavior, it is essential that the research must be conducted among samples of appropriate size. On the basis of results obtained from the sample size, the researcher can make wider judgments on the whole population. Cross-sectional analysis: This kind of regularities can be easily identified by comparing the differences in the samples. All the above given implications are the collective view points of different theorists of positivism. But there were many theorists who were having contrasting opinions on these postulates too. Even Comte was not supporting the reductionism concept. Wittgenstein proposed in his past studies that all factual intentions can be broken down into smaller elementary propositions that were entirely independent from each other. He himself later challenged this theory arguing that elementary propositions can be logically related to each other (Pears, 1971). Thus this philosophy is under an unending debate among the theorists. Aiken (1956) came up with the view that positivism is the best way to find out the behavioral patterns in human beings which may be originated as a result of metaphysical speculation. The concept of social constructivism on the other hand was developed based on the works of Berger and Luckman (1966), Watzlawick (1984) and Shotter (1993). This philosophy is based upon idea that people use language as a medium for sharing their experiences and it is through this way, they make sense of the world. Hence this theory suggests that people form, create and make themselves and their worlds by means of the verbal skills. It is more concerned about the process and product peoples way of interacting with each other (Leeds-Hurwitz, 1995). It is considered as social because it focuses on the interaction rather than the individual. Hence even though there exist a clear dichotomy between the two philosophies, there exists a high difference in opinion among the researchers about the selection of methods. Therefore a number of compromising has to be done between these two philosophies in order to conduct a research. In this research, the researcher tries to be as much close to the research area or subject. This is because the researcher intends to make a direct influence for which he may make certain alterations even in the research process. The ground concept behind this research was that if one wants to know a subject well he must try to change it. This theory was widely accepted in Organizational Development where the trainers use it for enhancing the team effectiveness (French Bell, 1978; Homan, 1979). Survey Research: This is a kind of research process which requires direct interaction with the samples. If done properly, this research can give accurate information which can be highly useful in solving the research problem. Survey research gives much importance to primary data and involves systematic observation (Sapsford, 2007). Therefore this research helps to take better business decisions by which way the business activities can be handles much more effectively. Experimental design: In this research, the experimenter assigns subjects at random to a test or control group. The test group conditions are then manipulated by the researcher so as to evaluate their effect with regard to the control group who are in a normal setting. But this kind of study is quite difficult to conduct in real organizations since its not easy to obtain a captive population for the research. Quasi-experimental designs: This was developed when the researchers found it difficult to create pure experimental designs under the positivist concept. This was clearly explained by Campell and Stanley (1963), who assessed a number of designs which made use of multiple scales so as to minimize the impact caused by incomplete matching of control and test groups. Ethnography: This is a theory based on social constructivist principle where the experimenter will try to be a part of the research so as to understand the mindset of the experimental group and the meanings and significances that the samples bring in their behavior of themselves and others. Case Method: There are several research designs at present and some of them are similar to fieldwork methods while some others fall in the intermediate position. Case study method is the kind of research design which comes under the latter category. The most important deliberations to this topic were made by Robert Yin (1993). The other popular contributors to this method are Stake (1995), Eisenhardt (1989), and Hamel et.al (1993). Grounded theory: This theory is based on constructivist principles and helps the researcher to understand how he will proceed with the research. This concept got worldwide attention from the studies of Glaser and Strauss (1967). In this method, the researcher mainly has to develop a theory by means of comparative method, i.e. viewing the same event in different situations and analyzing the difference. Co-operative enquiry: This is a type of action research where all the participants of the research contribute equally to the development of enquire and show active participation in the research process (Heron, 1996; Reason, 2003). Apart from the above research designs, there exist certain other designs which can be used for management researches. The most important ones among them are critical inquiry, participant observation and narrative methods. All these methods have certain similarities with the above mentioned designs as well as certain unique features of their own. Hence they are also widely accepted in business research and used according to the requirements. 2. The different areas of research that holds high significance are: a) Research topic: Finalizing the research topic is the first and most important part of a research since it is based on the depth of title that the research proceeds (Kumar, 2005). In the broad sense, research title can be any question or problem that you need to answer or any assumption that needs to be challenged. As per the words of Powers, Meenaghan Twoomey (1985), Potential research questions may occur to us on a regular basis, but the process of formulating them in a meaningful way is not at all an easy task. In order to frame a research title, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge of research methodology as well as on the theoretical aspects of the topic. The research title can be formulated based upon four sources namely daily life, practical issues, past research and theory (Johnson Christensen, 2010). They form the initial base for the structuring of research title. Thus the research topic serves as a foundation to the research and hence if it is framed properly, the study will also move in the right direction. The research problem can vary in complexity and hence the way it is formulated determines the research approach, study design, sampling strategy, research instrument as well as many other factors. Therefore there must be certain considerations while selecting a research topic. The main considerations are interest, magnitude, measurement concepts, expertise level, relevance, ethical issues etc. (Kumar, 2005). If the research topic fulfills most of these considerations, then it can be regarded as a suitable one. b) Research question: A research question refers to the problem that the experimenter seeks to answer through the research. The research question is an essential element of every research despite of the fact that it is qualitative and quantitative. But they will vary according to the nature of research. If the research question is qualitative, then it will be intended for finding out the relationship between two variables. A variable is something which has more than one value (Vaus, 2002). Hence research questions for these kinds of researches are not much specific. While on the hand, a quantitative research question tends to more precise as it will be based on mathematical results. Business research usually applies qualitative research questions since they ask more general questions which can be used for exploring the samples views or responses on a particular phenomenon. It is usually an interrogative sentence which aims to relate two or more variables. It can be of three types nam ely: descriptive, predictive and causal. The researcher must have thorough understanding of the variables that are related in the research. These questions are open-ended, general, and over-reaching regarding an issue, problem or phenomenon. c) Research hypothesis (es): They can be referred to as tentative answers to the research questions. This is because the solution to them can be found out after statistical analysis only and hence it forms a critical step in the evidence-gathering process of a research (Guerrero Nachmias, 2010). There will be two hypotheses while conducting this process. The first hypotheses will be referred to as research hypotheses (H1) and the other one will be termed as null hypothesis (H0). The research hypotheses are formulated based upon the parameters of population but its form is different from research to research. Null hypothesis is the one set as a counter the research hypothesis. It is because every research hypothesis is set in order to prove a relationship. Hence it is necessary to set an alternate hypothesis that could disprove the relationship. For hypothesis testing, the researcher aims to disprove the null hypothesis in order to provide support to the research hypothesis. Therefor e research hypotheses are oriented towards a particular direction. This means it states whether a population mean is greater than or lesser than a particular value. d) Research objectives: A researcher intends to summarize what must be achieved by means of the research. The objectives of the study must be in alignment with the problem statement. There are mainly two types of objectives set for a research- general objective and specific objective. General objective states what the researcher intends to achieve in general terms through conducting this study. This general objective when broken down to smaller parts for better solving becomes specific objectives. These research instruments help to gain valid data from the samples. After collecting the primary and secondary information, the researcher decides upon the methods for their analysis. Those variables which are measured using these scales are named as categorical variables since they try to classify the information collected. But these variables have no empirical value. Examples of variables measured through nominal scales are ethnicity, gender etc. These variables cannot be hence used in mathematical analysis. Hence these scales are considered as the lowest level of measurement since the variables are different by means of quality rather than quantity in this (Bordens Abbott, 2006). Ordinal Scale: They form the next level of measurement used in surveys. They constitute numbers which are in a predetermined order so that there will be certain relationships which can be inferred from them (Sapsford, 2007). Hence the objectives are classified into certain categories which form a rank order through a range. The data in this scale do have certain identity and properties but they dont have equal unit size and absolute zero. Interval Scale: In this scale, the measurement units are all of equal size. Therefore it fulfills the three main criteria of an ideal scale i.e. identity, magnitude and equal unit size. It forms the third level of measurement used in surveys. Hence this scale contains the characteristics of both nominal and ordinal scale but is much more effective than the other two (Malhotra Dash, 2008). Fahrenheit scale is the most prominent interval scale used. Ratio scale: This forms the highest measurement scale and has all the characteristics of nominal, ordinal and interval scale. It is the most complicated scale since it allows the researcher to identify the absolute differences between scale points as well as helps him in comparing the responses obtained (Hair et.al. 2007). This scale possesses an absolute zero which indicates the absence of variables in measurement. b. Questionnaire is the most commonly used research instrument. The main characteristics of a good questionnaire are as follows: It must be short and precise. So while framing a questionnaire, ensure that the research objectives will be met from the analysis of responses of the questionnaire. Usage of simple language: The questionnaire must be framed in such a way that the respondents find it easy to understand. Start with interesting questions: The questionnaire will include questions that will generate interest in the samples to answer and encourage them to fill out the complete form. Absence of leading questions: If there are leading questions in the form, it will encourage the respondents to answer in a particular way. But this is not considered as a good practice since the sample must not be influenced by any means in writing an answer. The number of choices wont be too long because the respondents will find it difficult to assess all of them. Hence the choice list must be small. Include simple concepts which the samples could understand. Including complicated concepts will make it a tough task for the respondents to answer the questions properly. The elements of a bad questionnaire are included below. It will have more open-ended questions than close-ended ones. This will make it difficult for the respondents to answer the questions and also their answers wont be similar. The analysis of these responses is not possible through any statistical method. The questions will be vague. The respondents will not be able to understand the real meaning of this question and this will influence their answer. The research questions are not communicated through this questionnaire. This way the questionnaire fails to serve its purpose.

Itââ¬â¢s like the more I have to do and get done, the less motivated I feel.â⬠As Katelyn talks, she transforms from an average college student to one with a serious illness, a condition that almost 24% of college students had been diagnosed with in 2003, at one time in their life. ââ¬Å"Being depressed is not something that everyone can easily understand. PROMOTING THE SECRET After the phenomenal success of the The Secret DVD, it made sense for it to be turned into a book and what better way for the marketers to embark on promoting the book than playing up the hype of the movie and using the popular internet marketing tool such as the viral video site YouTube. The book was marketed with an online viral video campaign focusing on wealth enhancement. The short video clips showed testimonials from readers of the book and practitioners of ââ¬Å"the secretâ⬠claiming that the technique brought them wealth, cured sickness, and brought about a general life-change. The video clips do not disclose what ââ¬Å"the secretâ⬠is, where it originated from or how it can be practiced, but rather pointed viewers to the website for both the book and film. Thus hooking the viewers and made them all the more intrigue by the claims made by the author in the book. As for packaging and promotional material, the book also played into the consumersââ¬â¢ senses by trying to showcase that ââ¬Å"the secretâ⬠originates from the cosmos. The cover prominently displayed a parchment-brown cover engraved with the image of a red wax seal (see Appendix 1) to indicate it is somewhat a book from the olden days and in the inside pages, the background design are a field of stars, and various shots of the universe thus adding mystique to the claims and the practice. However, the most savvy and most probably the ultimate gambit of the book is to call it ââ¬ËThe Secret. To quote Mr Donavin Bennes, a buyer who specializes in metaphysics for Borders Books, ââ¬Å"We all want to be in on a secret. But to present it as the secret, that was brilliant. â⬠Thus the name evoke a sense of intrigue to readers who are looking for something magical or perhaps easier tool for them to understand and to fully live their lives. Another smart marketing move made by the publisher was to have it endorsed by well-known and highly popular worldwide celebrities. The book got its first break in the US when Ellen DeGeneres featured it on her show. And when Oprah Winfrey decided to run a show on it, although it was already a big success, the sales ballooned up much more. Oprah Winfrey first featured it on Feb. 8 2007 and according to Nielsen BookScan, the book had sold 18,000 copies the week before. During the week of the show, sales rocketed to 101,000 and when the show did a follow-up on Feb. 16 2007, the sales that week reached 190,000. With the success of the book, the publishers decided to create more spin-off titles, which they call The Secret tools. THE SECRET S. W. O. T ANALYSIS Strengths 1. The intriguing title. As elaborated above, the title play a major role in inciting readersââ¬â¢ interest in the book. 2. The cover design. Alongside its intriguing title, the odd-shaped book with its olden-days personification invoke a sense of mystery that is definitely eye-catching and surely pique a personââ¬â¢s interest while browsing the shelves at a bookstore. 3. The content is an easy read with its simple language and peppered with inspiring testimonials from many men & women who has experienced the use of the secret plus personal experience & quotations from the the whoââ¬â¢s who of the self-help industry. 4. The savvy marketing ideas of the publishers that has created the hype that constantly raise awareness of the book. 5. Endorsement by high-profile & influential personalities that are recognized world-wide certainly helped boosted its sale internationally. 6. Constant high-placing in best-selling charts, most probably due to the savvy marketing ideas of the publisher and as theà long-term effect of the celebrity associated to the book especially Oprah Winfrey. Weaknesses 1. The selling price in Malaysia of RM79. 90 is definitely a setback to potential buyers as the price is rather steep for many people especially for books in the self-help category. 2. The book is not available in paperback form thus some book buyers are not keen on buying hardback cover books due to its steeper price or its slightly heavy weight. 3. The content is not something that is unique and there are many similar teachings that one can get in many other books thus it does lack a little originality. 4. As typical with many New Age teachings, the content of the book has garnered much criticism which try to debunked the bookââ¬â¢s teaching as merely hype, mumbo-jumbo or just plain illogical. 5. The book has to complete with many other form of self-help books available that are cheaper, more accessible and from much more renowned authors (Paulo Coelho, Eckhart Tolle, Anthony Robbins) Opportunities 1. Publishers could promote to younger readers especially The Secret for Teens book first and therefore will garner their interest in the main book The Secret. 2. Use the The Secret movie to lure potential readers as there are those who would like to have to book in hand as a way to look back or do revision which is harder to do with the dvd. 3. Offer a cheaper paperback form, thus the book is able to be sold at a cheaper price and therefore garner many more readers. Threats 1. With the easy access to internet, potential readers might decide to check out what the book is about online and thus stumbling on the many critics that the book has garnered. This in turn can make them believe the critics before actually reading the book, thus will result in loss of sales. 2. Like many other things in life, people are apt to stumble upon a new idea for a book or a belief that could help the world, thus there will be brand new books in the future that will probably come with a much more savvy marketing approach and thus will affect the interest of the people about The Secret! THE SECRET CONCLUSION The Secret is a phenomenon and it is likely to become one of the best-selling self-help books of all time. This means that the majority of people, the great majority even, believe in at least some aspects of the bookââ¬â¢s premise and teaching. They believe in the law of attraction. The one problem that The Secret poses is that it simplifies and speculates way too much and there are a quite a significant level of moral defects, the lack of scientific backing, and the various philosophical shortcomings, how is it that a significant number of people still believe thereââ¬â¢s something to The Law of Attraction? Part of the reason must certainly be the powerful testimonials coming from celebrity figures such as Oprah Winfrey, a woman who attributes her success to her mighty powers of attraction. Of course, thatââ¬â¢s a long way from the simple model of Ask-Believe-Receive. In most peopleââ¬â¢s lives, positive thought leads to success only through the transforming medium of action. But as the author Rhonda said in an interview, she just wants to bring happiness to everybody. Thatââ¬â¢s the reason it all began. And to her credit, she does bring happiness to many people worldwide and surely there is nothing, in principle, wrong with thinking about what makes you happy.

Puritan Letter essays Back in the year sixteen hundred and thirty two, my pilgrim brothers and I began our long journey from the motherland, England, to the distant Americas all the way to a place we call Massachutes Bay. As we traveled our great leader, John Winthrop, gave us a wonderful sermon called "A Modell of Christian Charity." It was our goal to become, what he termed, "a City upon a Hill." This sermon was became our core beliefs in terms of are society and what we hoped to establish. First, we would create a city in the physical sense. Every settler would receive his own house and garden, which would have fields in which the entire community would aid in tending and all would use the land for the grazing of the communities cattle. Our community would be the seat of the church, a place of government, and a place in which all would be safe from the Indians. In addition, the grand community we hoped to build would also be excellant in the spiritual sense. It would be a city of a god; a place where a ll men would serve god in the way he hoped and demanded that he be served. However, in order to sound ââ¬Ëoptimisticââ¬â¢, the West introduced the term ââ¬Ëdeveloping countriesââ¬â¢ that only served to reinforce the illusion of attaining material prosperity for all humanity. At the moment, according to Rist, virtually all leaders of states have embraced the ââ¬Ëdevelopmentââ¬â¢ paradigm.
